Creamy Italian Sausage Chili

Recipe from: Laura Watson

Luv this chili! Definately a top favorite. It also won first place at a ward chili cookoff!

1 lb italian sausage
2 Tbsp. olive oil
5 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup water
3 tsp. chili powder
2 tsp. oregano
2 tsp. cumin
1 Tbsp. paprika
1 Tbsp. parsley
salt and pepper to taste
2 cans diced tomatoes, lightly blended
1 can chicken broth
3 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
1/3 cup ketchup
2 Tbsp. corn starch
1 can of EACH: black beans, pinto beans, chili beans
1/2 pkg. of cream cheese ( I personally use the whole block)
1/2 c. diced onions (optional)
sour cream & green onions for garnish

Start frying the sausage in a frying pan. In a large pot brown the garlic in the olive oil, then add the water, spices, tomatoes, broth, vinegar, and ketchup. Stir well and bring to a boil. Take out about 1/4 cup of the sauce and stir into the cornstarch, then return the cornstarch mixture to the pot. When the sausage is browned add it and the onions (opt.) & beans to the pot. Let the chili simmer for about half an hour. Lastly add the cream cheese and stir in until completely dissolved. It's especially good served with crackers or cornbread. Garnish w/ sour cream and g. onions if desired.
