Recipe from: Laura Watson
When I went groc. shopping at Winco yesterday, I saw they sell raw whole wheat pizza dough in the pepperoni/can. bacon section. I bought some & decided to have homemade pizza tonite.
I waded thru piles of my "need to try this recipe" and found this one. I made it & glad I did! This pizza sauce is the bomb!! I've made pizza sauce before and I always seemed to get that 'metal can' taste or ''overseasoned' taste.
This one is perfect. It tastes just like a restaurant pizza sauce! Enjoy !
1 15oz can tomato sauce
1/4 c. water
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. dried basil leaves
1/4 tsp. dried thyme
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. black pepper
1 bay leaf crushed real super fine
dash onion powder
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
Mix all ingredients in saucepan and cook over medium heat. Heat sauce til bubbles then turn down and simmer 30-60 min. til it reaches a thickness you like.
