Sourdough Scones

Recipe From: Barbara Morrison
From Brown's Best Original Cookbook
 
1 c. basic batter
1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. melted shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
2 beaten eggs

Sift dry ingredients. Mix with liquids. Mix and add additional flours. Knead. For lighter scones, allow to raise before frying. Fry in hot (375 degree) oil.  Drain on paper towels. Serve hot with butter and honey.
