Recipes From: Laura Watson
The following recipes come from our great-grandmother. What a legacy to leave recipes for her posterity when we know so little about her. I did not know there was such a thing as Graham flour! So interesting to see what Grandma Brown grew up eating. I do remember Grandma Brown making the raisin cookies.
Grandma Brown copied these recipes from her mom, Mary Whites, handwritten cookbook.
Grandma says that baking powder and baking soda are always written out in the book and the word cupful is used a lot. Grandma says "Mom used regular cups and spoons for measuring. I'm not sure she had measuring cups and spoons".
It would be fun to hear back if anyone tried these recipes.
Marble Cake
White Part
2 egg whites
1 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 Tbsp. butter
flour

All the same as white part but use yolk of 2 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
There is no further directions. I would guess 350 for 20-30 min. as you would a regular cake.
