Recipe From: Shae Johnson
Made this last night for Mom and Dad's farewell dinner. I had doubled the recipe, but this is the original amounts, because it still makes plenty.

2 cups white rice
1/4 cup olive oil
1 small can tomato sauce
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. minced garlic
4 cups water
1 chicken flavored bouillon cube (1 tsp of chicken bouillon)
dash of cumin
dash of garlic pepper
Instructions:
Heat oil in large frying pan on medium heat.
Add rice and cook until golden brown. Be sure to stir often so it doesn't burn.
Add 1 chicken flavored bouillon cube to 4 cups water and
microwave for 3 minutes.
When rice is brown, add water (carefully), tomato sauce, salt, garlic,
cumin and garlic pepper to pan.
Stir and cover pan. Let simmer on medium-low heat for 40 minutes or until rice
is cooked. Be sure to keep an eye on it, since it might be done sooner, so it doesn’t stick on the bottom.

Oh yeah! Thx for posting this recipe. It's always fun to have variety other than just plain rice. Have you ever made spanish rice using brown rice? Thanks for keeping up with this blog......I love the new look! :)
ReplyDeleteI love variety when it comes to rice! Esp. coconut rice. I have never tried it with brown rice--I'd have to try out a specific recipe since it takes longer to cook.
