Recipe From: Laura Watson
We made these for an FHE treat last night. They taste similar to Grandma Browns brownies.
The original recipe had different frosting ingredients but decided to switch to my favorite choc. frosting instead.
Ingredients:
Brownies
18.4 ounce box brownie mix
12 Tablespoons butter, melted
½ cup buttermilk
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup walnuts
one or two handfuls of choc. chips to sprinkle on top
Frosting:
1 c. semisweet
choc. chips
1/2 c. heavy
whipping cream
1 Tbsp. butter
1/4 c. chopped nuts
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 325.
Butter or line a 9x13 pan with nonstick foil.
Mix with a spoon, the brownie mix, butter, buttermilk,
eggs,vanilla and nuts.
Spread in pan and sprinkle on the choc. chips.
Bake 40 mins.
Center will be a little soft still. Cool.
For Frosting:
Melt frosting ingredients except nuts on low-med heat in pan
.
Spread on brownies
Cut into squares.

These were so delicious, Laura! We made them tonight, and already ate over half of the 9x13 pan between the 4 of us. Walnuts in brownies are a must. Always reminds me of Grandma Brown.
ReplyDeleteThanks Shae! Happy to hear you and your family enjoyed these brownies. Yup! Absolutely Nuts in brownies. :) Nuts were always found in grandmas desserts....brownies, ice cream, banana bread, cinnamon cake, molasses cupcakes.....ahhhh the memories... the smells....baking with grandma..... makes me miss the good 'ol times.
