Taco Seasoning

Recipe From: Laura Watson

Taco salad is pretty much on the menu just about every week in our home.  To save money on taco seasoning, I make my own.  Its a lot healthier too.  I found this recipe to be the perfect blend of spices to add to taco meat.

1 tablespoon chili powder
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon paprika
1½ teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper

Combine all seasonings together.   Add ½ cup of water to the meat and seasonings to  make the meat more moist.  One recipe is enough for 1 pound of ground hamburger or ground turkey.  You can use  more or less to taste.  I quadruple this recipe so I don't have to make it every time I make tacos and store in an airtight container.  It makes for a total of 2 1/2 Tbsp. per batch of meat. If you want more of a taco sauce meat, add a lil cornstarch.
