Banana Bread Brownies

These were at Ellie's 1st birthday party!



INGREDIENTS:

1 1/2 C sugar

1 C sour cream

1/2 C butter

2 eggs

4 ripe bananas, mashed

2 tsp vanilla extract

2 C all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

3/4 tsp salt

1/2 C chopped walnuts

FROSTING:

1/2 C butter

4 C powdered sugar

1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

3 TBSP milk

INSTRUCTIONS:

Preheat oven to 375. Prepare a 15x10 in jelly roll pan by greasing and flouring it. 

For the brownies, beat together the sugar, sour cream, butter, and eggs in a large bowl until mixture is creamy. Then, incorporate mashed bananas and vanilla extract. 

Next, add flour, baking soda, and salt to the bowl, blending everything for one minute. Stir in chopped nuts. 

Evenly spread batter into prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. 

While baking, prepare the frosting. In a pan over medium heat, melt butter until it starts boiling. Let it turn a delicate brown, and then turn off the heat. 

To the browned butter, add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk. Wisk until smooth, with a consistency thicker than a glaze, but thinner than frosting. 

Using a spatula, spread the frosting over the baked bars. It is easier to spread if the bars are still warm.
