(from original Browns Best cookbook)
Sauce
1 qt. tomato juice
1-3 Tbsp. Chili powder
dash cayenne pepper
1 lump butter
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
Beat in pan. Thicken with 3 Tbsp flour in a cup of water. Add to sauce. Add 1 lb. brown hamburger.
Corncakes
3 Tbsp melted shortening
1/2 c. cornmeal
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
Add enough water to make consistency of pancake batter. Fry lil' pancakes on hot griddle.
To Serve:
On corn cake , put a layer shredded lettuce, chopped onion, grated cheese & chopped tomato. Pour sauce over. Top the whole thing with hot sauce.
